PRINCE2® Train-the-Trainer Program

Program Description

The PRINCE2® Train-the-Trainer program is to train project management professionals to become an accredited PRINCE2® trainer associated to the accredited PRINCE2® training organization (ATO). Successful candidate who passes the trainer exam and practice will be qualified to provide PRINCE2® training.

Apollo Consulting Group can provide training for the PRINCE2® trainer program, the trainer accreditation is to be certified by APMG-China. The train the trainer program is given by Francis Hung, the Lead PRINCE2® trainer of Apollo Consulting Group.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum pre-enrolment requirements:

  • The potential trainer must have passed the PRINCE2® Practitioner exam with at least 238 marks out of a possible 360 marks.
  • The potential trainer must show that he or she has experience with training a group of people.
  • The potential trainer must submit a resume to Apollo Consulting Group ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). This resume will be presented to APM Group for approval.
  • To remain accredited an accredited PRINCE2® trainer must give at least two 5-day PRINCE2® courses per period of 12 months. The potential trainer must show how the trainer will be able give and/or sell at least two training courses per year.

Final enrolment

After complying to all the pre-enrolment requirements the Lead PRINCE2® trainer will send a confirmation to APMG confirming the start of the train the trainer program. The potential trainer will receive a written confirmation from APMG in starting the Train-the-Trainer Program.

Process to Become a Prince2 Trainer

Step 1: Attending a regular PRINCE2® course given by the Lead PRINCE2® trainer

The potential trainer will receive a trainer's manual for the full PRINCE2®

Step 2: Giving four PRINCE2® courses

This is where the potential trainer gives four PRINCE2® Foundation and four PRINCE2® Practitioner courses to a group of students on behalf of Apollo Consulting Group. The trainer must organize and give the courses him/herself. The students must do a Foundation and Practitioner test exam provided by Apollo Consulting Group and must fill in a customer evaluation form. The score on the evaluation forms must be on average at least 8 out of a possible score of 10 and at least 40 students must have passed the test exams with a minimum score of 50%. After passing these criteria the trainer can ask the Lead PRINCE2® trainer to present him or her to an assessor from APMG.


Step 3: Present the trainer to APMG

Apollo Consulting Group will invite an assessor from APMG to attend a training course given by the trainer. The Lead PRINCE2® trainer must be present during this training course. The assessor from APM Group will review a section of the training course given by the potential trainer and will then have a one-on-one session with the potential trainer. In this one-on-one session the assessor will test if the trainer knows all aspects of the PRINCE2® method and will test if the trainer understands the philosophy and tailorability of the PRINCE2® method. The result of the APM Group assessor examination is one of the below options: course. These manuals include all the presentation slides with detailed explanation notes. The potential trainer will attend the lead trainer's course and take necessary notes to familiar himself or herself for the training assessment.
  1. A-Status: The trainer is fully accredited and can from now on give accredited PRINCE2® training courses without the Lead PRINCE2® trainer.
  2. B-Status: The trainer is a borderline. The trainer still needs to give some training courses together with the Lead PRINCE2® trainer. The number of training courses is decided by the APM Group assessor.
  3. C-status: The trainer is rejected.

Cost of the Train-the-Trainer Program

  • Upon enrolment the trainer must pay HK$30,000 for step one and two as mentioned above. This price includes the hotel accommodation in Germany.
  • Upon presenting the trainer to APMG the trainer must pay HK$20,000 plus travel expenses for the APMG assessor and Lead PRINCE2® trainer.
  • Upon receiving an A or B status by APMG the trainer must pay an annual accreditation fee of HK$8,500 per calendar year (1 January – 31 December).

The prices mentioned above do not include taxes where applicable.

After the train the trainer program

On receiving an A or B status by APMG the trainer can give PRINCE2®PRINCE2® trainers are authorized to invigilate PRINCE2® PRINCE2® trainer is allowed to do training courses for other accredited PRINCE2® training providers. training courses either on behalf of Apollo Consulting Group or become an APMG Affiliate and give the courses in his or her own name.
